Underlayment, ice and water at eaves and valleys, the specified roofing, ridge vent, drip edge, and flashing are separate lines. Complex hips and valleys change shingle waste from 10 percent to 15 percent in the prompt’s defaults.

The problem

Roof takeoffs fail when area is not converted to squares, when ice and water is missed at valleys, when drip edge is not eaves plus rakes, and when waste is a silent pad. A tenant interior sample will not invent a roof — if the set has no roof plan, the honest page says so.

Measuring tools are strong at clicking the slope. They still leave you to buy underlayment, flashing, and ridge vent in a second spreadsheet.

What is a square on this roofing takeoff?

One square is 100 square feet of roof area. The first-pass list should convert SF to squares rather than leaving a raw area you have to divide in a spreadsheet.

When is shingle waste 15 percent instead of 10?

The prompt’s default is 10 percent, and 15 percent for complex roofs with lots of hips and valleys, unless the drawings say otherwise. That factor should appear next to the line with the arithmetic. You can edit it.

Does the public sample include a roof takeoff?

No. The golden fixture is a tenant interior and has no Roofing trade. We will not invent squares on that page. Upload a set with a roof plan.
