This page is for concrete contractors and GCs who bid placements, not a single cubic-yard lump. A real estimator’s concrete takeoff separates slab on grade, continuous footings, spread footings, piers, pits, and site pads — each with mix, forming, and reinforcement. Collapsing that into “slab + footings + misc” is how the wrong PSI shows up at the plant.

The problem

The failure is a blended CY. Slab thickness guessed as an average. Footing section invented instead of read from the schedule. Isolated F1/F2 marks missed on the foundation plan. One PSI for a 3500 slab and 3000 footings. Mesh counted as rebar, or rebar omitted because the slab “looks like fiber.”

Ancillary materials vanish next: gravel, vapor barrier mil, curing compound, waterstop, expansion joint, anchor bolts. Measuring tools can get the area and still miss the placement list a sub actually bids.

What this supports

Concrete is a scope chip. The takeoff instructions forbid collapsing the trade into slab plus footings plus misc. Itemize slab on grade (exclude trench pits from the footprint), continuous footings, column/spread footings, piers, pits/trenches/vaults, PSI per placement, reinforcement per element, gravel, vapor barrier thickness, curing compound, waterstop, expansion-joint filler, anchor bolts.

Units are cubic yards for placements. Waste 5–10 percent unless the drawings say otherwise, with the calculation on the line. Citations, confidence, Needs your eyes. Browser-based. Fourteen scopes. Guest RFQs on every plan.

The public sample at /sample-bid is still the golden tenant fit-out — ZIP 34420, $196,682.14 from computeBidTotals, additional contingency 10%, markup 15%. Concrete on that fixture is Site Concrete & Exterior: about 1.1 CY of 3,000 PSI for a generator pad, #4 rebar, Class 2 aggregate, form lumber, posts, bollards. It is not a house foundation with a footing schedule.

Questions

Why shouldn’t slab, footings, and piers share one cubic-yard line?
Each placement can have its own mix, forming, and reinforcement. The takeoff instructions say never collapse Concrete into slab plus footings plus misc. Read the footing and spread-footing schedules instead of guessing a section.
Where does PSI come from if the model leaves it off?
From the structural general notes’ concrete schedule. Slabs, footings, piers, and site concrete are often different mixes. If a line has no PSI, that is a review item — do not assume 3000 everywhere.
Does the sample bid show a full foundation takeoff?
No. The golden fixture is a tenant interior. Site concrete there is a generator pad and related exterior items. Use it as a placement example, not as a house foundation library.
What waste factor should I expect on concrete?
The prompt’s default is 5–10 percent unless the drawings say otherwise, stated next to the line with the arithmetic. You can edit it. Physical waste belongs in the reviewed quantity before whole-package rounding. The separate Additional contingency control adds a money cushion, not more material.
