drywall takeoff software

Sheets from wall and ceiling area, cited to the sheet.

This page is for drywall shops and GCs who hang their own gyp. You bid wall SF plus ceiling SF converted to 4x8 or 4x12 sheets, joint compound, tape, corner bead, and screws — not a single “drywall” lump. Moisture-resistant and impact-resistant boards are different rows when the partition legend says so.

The trade-contractors page is the generic slice. This page is the Drywall scope in the fourteen-chip list. Primer and paint can appear as accessories in the same interior pass; that is not a dedicated painting product and painting is not its own takeoff scope.

Solo at $200 is five successful takeoffs. Crew at $399 is fifteen and is featured (Most Popular: Full Bid Loop). Shop at $699 is forty. RFQs are on every plan. Failed runs do not count.

The problem

Drywall quantities hide in partition types. A click-measure of one wall misses the second layer, the Type X, the MR at the restroom, and the ceiling. A dump of “gypsum — 200 sheets” without a page and without 4x8 versus 4x12 will be rebuilt from the legend anyway.

Mud is worse: buckets per roughly 400 SF, tape, bead, screws — the hang is not done when the sheet count exists. Waste on drywall is 10 percent unless the drawings say otherwise, and that arithmetic should sit on the line.

Sunday night is when the second-layer wall shows up in the field. Sunday-Off: still doing manual takeoffs on Sunday night after 30 days? Full refund.

What you get

Drop the PDF. Chip Drywall if that is the invitation. ZIP. Run takeoff. Processing time varies with plan size and complexity. Close the tab. We email you.

You should see wall and ceiling area turned into sheets, plus compound, tape, bead, and screws as separate items where the prompt can support them. Open the citation. Edit the board type when GB-2 is not GB-1. Then source, mark SELF or SUB, RFQ hangers if you buy the labor, export. Unpriced is an em dash, never $0.00.

See how it works for the walkthrough. Then run your first bid. First-takeoff via feedback@takeoffspeed.io. Sunday-Off after 30 days. Cancel anytime. Failed runs do not count. We do not run your company. We help you get the bid out.

  4. Send RFQs for subcontracted scope.
  5. Bring the returned quotes into the bid.
  6. Check coverage and avoid double-counting.
  7. Assemble and send the proposal.

What this supports

Drywall is a first-class scope chip. The takeoff instructions convert wall SF plus ceiling SF to 4x8 or 4x12 sheets, then joint compound (bucket per about 400 SF), tape, corner bead, and screws. Sheathing and drywall waste is 10 percent unless the set says otherwise, with the calculation on the line.

Partition legends that name Type X, MR, or impact-resistant boards should land as separate specs, not one board. Citations and confidence labels apply the same as every other trade. Browser-based, PDF only, ten files, 150 MB on the drop and 200 MB server cap; the current page allowance is shown before upload.

Guest RFQs on every plan if you hang some walls and buy others. Solo $200 / 5, Crew $399 / 15 (featured), Shop $699 / 40. CSV and Word export.

Sample output

Open /sample-bid. ZIP 34420. Estimated total $196,682.14 from computeBidTotals, including 10% additional contingency on material costs and 15% markup. The fixture’s Gypsum Board & Insulation trade is the drywall picture: 140 sheets of 5/8 inch Type X, MR and impact-resistant boards, acoustical batt, vapor barrier, joint compound pails, tape, corner bead, control joints. That is a tenant interior, not a house with 4x12 field boards throughout.

We do not invent extra sheets on top of the golden run. Plan-page source is empty on this fixture; live takeoffs include available page references for review. CSV and Word remain behind sign-in.

What this does not do

No scheduling, no payroll, no change-order workflow. We do not run your company. We help you get the bid out.

A human reviews every line. We do not claim complete sheet counts. We do not ship a painting takeoff product; primer in the interior pass is not a paint bid. FOUND retail is not your board supplier’s number.

Your first subscription: one free takeoff in a 14-day trial. A credit card is required. Cancel before trial end to avoid billing. Guarantees are first-takeoff and Sunday-Off, manual at feedback@takeoffspeed.io, plus cancel anytime.

Questions

Does drywall waste get buried in the sheet count?
It should not. Sheathing and drywall waste is 10 percent unless the drawings say otherwise, and the arithmetic belongs on the line so you can spot-check it. You can edit the quantity after review.
Are moisture-resistant and Type X supposed to be the same row?
No. When the partition legend names GB-1, GB-2, GB-3, those are separate items. Collapse them only if you have checked the drawing and decided they truly are the same board.
Is there a separate painting takeoff page?
No. Painting is not one of the fourteen scopes. Primer and paint can appear as interior accessories. If you need a paint bid, that is still your estimate — we do not claim a painting product.
Can I RFQ hangers and still count the boards myself?
Yes. Mark the trade SELF for materials you buy and send a guest RFQ for labor-only if that is the split, or SUB if the hang is bought. RFQs are on Solo, Crew, and Shop. See how it works for the apply step.
